A good end to a stressful week.

So this week has been pretty stressful for Atticus.  He has continued to have issues as a result from his PICC line going bad two weeks ago.   He's had a lot of inflammation in his body and some areas of possible infection.  All the stress and inflammation caused him to stop taking food last Saturday (his one month birthday).   He also stopped things moving through his digestive system.  As a result they had to put in a new PICC, put a new tube down into his belly to suck everything out of his digestive track, put him back on IV nutrition, stop giving him milk feedings and have a spinal tap which required three tries before he finally gave them enough fluid to run the tests they needed to do.
On the bright side as the week progressed all the tests from his spinal tap came back negative (wahoo!).   His belly is starting to work a little bit again.   And the best news of all they were able to take him off his ventilator this morning and put him back on a CPAP machine.   This is one step closer to him breathing on his own.  We are very optimistic that he will stay off the ventilator.
One step closer to home!

  1. I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this bec. I understand how hard it is to go home without your baby every night. Watching him go through all that has got to be rough. Hope you're holding up ok. Each day is a gift and miracle. Stay strong :)
