So with his PIK line going bad Saturday and the fluid going into his lungs it was pretty much inevitable that little man would get pneumonia, and he did. All week little man has been fighting a low grade infection in his lungs. He is full of mucus and other yucky stuff. In spite of this he stays pretty happy. He actually seems to enjoy blowing snot bubbles out his nose ( he smiles when he does it). He is getting better though, the antibiotics he's on seem to be working well and his blood work shows that his little immune system is working to fight it too. His oxygen levels are returning to normal and they may start weaning him off the ventilator again in the next few days.
He is also up to full feedings through his feeding tube. That means he gets about 20 ml (a little less than an ounce) of milk through his feeding tube every three hours. With him taking full feedings it means he does not have to have IV fluids and nutrition anymore. This is very good news because lately they have been lucky to make an IV site last more than a day or two. Overall things are looking better (knock on wood).
